I grew up splitting time between
my mother's house in Vero Beach, FL
and father's house in Chicago, IL
- spending the school year in Vero
and summers in Chicago (not a bad
setup)
Education:
I attended St. Edwards High School
in Vero Beach, where I was the usual
self-proclaimed football star. But
being a little too small and too slow
for Miami or Florida State to come
calling - I headed north to Union
College in Schenectady, NY to continue
my playing days.
While at Union, I majored in Philosophy
with an Economics minor; graduating
with a BA degree with departmental
honors in 1996.
After a brief one year stint living
in Aspen, CO (a top destination for
Philosophy majors after college) I
moved back to Chicago in 1997 and
have lived there ever since.
Work:
My career in the Futures industry
started back in 1998 as a clerk in
the 30 yr Bond futures pit at the
Chicago Board of Trade.
From there, I tried striking it rich
trading my own account online, went
back to work as a phone clerk, then
traded proprietary funds for a while,
before ending up at Striker Securities
as a commodities and stock broker.
In August of 2002, I teamed up with
Walter Gallwas to form my own firm
- named Attain Capital Management.
Attain invests money for high net
worth individuals through investments
in commodities, futures, and hedge
funds. Check out the website at www.attaincapital.com.
Hobbies:
There's not a lot of time for hobbies
when you run a small business, but
when I can find time - I am a huge
Chicago sports fan, catching the Bears,
Bulls or Cubs whenever possible.
Other hobbies include competitive
sailing. I've completed 12 of the
333 mile Chicago-Mackinac yacht races,
was on the winning American team in
the 1994 Kenwood Cup in Hawaii, and
have done numerous races in locales
such as Key West, San Diego, Newport
RI, San Francisco Traverse City MI,
Lake Minnetonka MN, and Pewaukee Lake
WI.
When not on a sailboat, I enjoy skiing,
golf, poker, and completed several
triathlons before having hip surgery
in 2004.
